Why Do Anime Characters Always Yell
Anime fans don t think too much of it but for those new to the medium this is just weird.
Why do anime characters always yell. Anime characters sure yell a lot. Outside of those two genres you really don t see people yelling out attacks. Do japanese people gasp more.
And yet nearly every fighting anime has instances of the characters yelling out the names of their attacks. They yell their attacks. Pokemon is a special case because while it is normal to yell a battlecry what would pokemon really sound like.
It was apparently easier for the animation studio to simply grab voice actors to call out the pokemon s name rather than go to the trouble of mixing together strange sfx to get a unique sound for each pokemon iirc chewbacca of star wars fame is a mix of bear and whale calls. Why do anime do that. Calling out the name of an attack is necessary to unleash it.
Why do anime characters yell their names and attacks. Some anime explain this away as a part of the technique. Similarly in naruto the characters typically say the element of the jutsu before the actual jutsu ex.
However there are a few reasons why anime has these conventions. Does this mirror the way people in japan communicate irl. They yell their names or demand to know their opponent s names.
It really only occurs in shonen and magical girl anime though ie those shows aimed at kids and teens not all anime.
